Welcome to the Clinical Nutrition Department at South Sinai Hospital - Sharm El Sheikh. Our dedicated Dietetics team provides professional and personalized care to all our outpatients, focusing on therapeutic diets and overall well-being.

Our service aims to monitor, maintain, and improve the nutritional status and symptoms of referred patients. With their expertise and experience, our Dietitians assess nutritional needs and recommend appropriate dietary treatments. They evaluate and monitor dietetic interventions to have a positive impact on patients' nutritional status, aid in the recovery process, control symptoms, and enhance overall well-being. Working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, our Dietitians integrate nutritional treatment into the comprehensive care of our patients.

Our Objectives:

The establishment of the Dietetics and Nutritional Department aims to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Promote optimal nutritional status by providing medical nutrition therapy aligned with physicians' orders and tailored to individual physical, ethnic, religious, and social needs.
  2. Facilitate healthcare education through counseling and seminars.

Our Services & Specialties:

The Dietetic Department offers a range of advice and support for both outpatients and inpatients, including:

  1. Nutrition assessment and guidance for healthy eating.
  2. Nutrition support for obesity and underweight patients.
  3. Specialized diets for hypertension, renal disease, and various gastrointestinal disorders such as celiac disease, IBD, IBS, and constipation.
  4. Diets for weight loss and lipid management.
  5. Diets for patients with food allergies or intolerances.
  6. Diets for metabolic diseases requiring dietary manipulation.
  7. Diets for neurological diseases like stroke.
  8. Diets for arthritis patients.
  9. Diets for cancer patients.
  10. Diets for pregnancy and lactating mothers.
  11. Diets for specific patient groups, including infants, school-age children, adolescents, and the elderly.
  12. Diets for disorders of the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder.
  13. Diets for eating disorders.
  14. Diets for pre- and post-plastic surgery patients, following the advice of the doctor.
  15. Diets for nutritional deficiencies in vitamins and minerals, such as anemia, hypocalcemia, hyperuricemia, etc.
  16. Nutritional counseling for various other conditions.

Diet Counseling - Inpatients:

Our Dietitians visit patients daily and conduct nutritional assessments upon admission and ongoing assessments thereafter. They plan therapeutic meals based on individual needs and provide education to patients and their families. Patient care is a priority, and our Dietitians ensure a comprehensive approach to nutritional support.

Diet Counseling - Outpatients:

We welcome walk-in and referred outpatients. Our Dietitians provide dietary instructions and guidance, adopting a collaborative approach among physicians, Dietitians, and patients. Printed diet charts and instructions are provided, ensuring patients understand their prescribed diets. Referrals from consultants or general practitioners (GPs) are accepted in writing. While GP and self-referrals are welcome, please note that these consultations are not covered by medical insurance.
